Lycurgus Award of the Academy of Athens to Associate Professor C. Simserides and Dr K. Lambropoulos

The members of “Sector of Condensed Matter Physics” warmly congratulate their colleague, Associate Professor Constantinos Simserides and Dr Konstantinos Lambropoulos, on the occasion of their recent award with the “Lycurgus Award” of the Academy of Athens for original scientific work in theoretical Physics.[http://www.academyofathens.gr/el/awards/laureates-dec-2022].

The work entitled "Periodic, quasiperiodic, fractal, Kolakoski, and random binary polymers: Energy structure and carrier transport",concerns electronic states and charge transport in periodic, quasiperiodic (Thue-Morse, Fibonacci, period doubling, Rudin-Shapiro), fractal (Cantor, generalized Cantor), Kolakoski, and random binary sequences, using B-DNA as a prototype system. It examines the influence of sequence intricacy on electronic structure, localization and charge transport (quantities such as autocorrelation function, eigenspectra, density of states, Lyapunov exponents, transmission coefficients and current - voltage curves).
